Course Description
Being a Medical Assistant is all about helping others. The care you are trained to deliver will provide you with the skills you need to work in physicians’ offices, outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, extended care facilities, government facilities, and more! As a Medical Assistant, you are cross-trained to perform both administrative and clinical duties. Because of this training, you will be able to perform clinical components such as collecting and recording patient medical histories and vital signs, assist in tests and minor procedures, give injections, dressing changes, and provide patient instructions. On the administrative side, you will be prepared to schedule patient appointments, manage inventory, perform billing operations and daily office tasks. With your added training in phlebotomy, you will be able to draw blood from patients or blood donors, label blood samples, assemble and maintain medical instruments including test tubes, needles, and vials. Becoming registered in both Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy provide the opportunity for a rewarding career. You will act as a resource for both patients and the medical facility, as you perform duties that those without registrations cannot.
